Not far from the puddle of water that had dried up there was a turtle that fell into the hole. The hole is very deep.
"Ouch...! Why did I end up in here?” said the tortoise while trying to crawl out of the hole.
However, his efforts always failed. Every time he managed to jump onto a rock as a final pedestal so he could get out of the hole, his body always bounced back into the bottom of the hole again.
"Wow, it's bad if until the night I'm still trapped in this hole," thought the tortoise.
“If you expect help from friends, it's impossible. Haven't many of them died of thirst?" Finally the turtle gave up.
He sat leaning on the edge of the hole while continuing to pray, hopefully a friend will come to help get him out of the hole.
And not long after, there was an elephant passing near the hole. He looked left and right. Looks like the elephant is looking for something. But how surprised, when he looked into the hole, it turned out that there was a turtle scavenging the ground that looked watery.
"Strange," thought the Elephant. "Why is the tortoise in the hole? What was he doing in the hole?” Then the elephant tried to greet his friend.
"Assalamualaikum. turtle," said the Elephant. "Why are you there?"
The tortoise actually knew about the elephant's arrival. However, he tried to hide his sadness at not being able to get out of the hole. He pretended to dig the ground, then wet the soil with his own urine.
"Wa'alaikumussalam, Elephant," replied the tortoise. "I'm busy, here." continued the turtle while continuing to pretend to dig the soil around it. The elephant continued to pay attention to the activities of the tortoise.
"Yeah, what are you doing in there?"
The tortoise was happy because the elephant was curious about his activities. He thought hard to get himself out of the hole.
"Look, Elephant," said the tortoise. “I was in the pit to dig a well. I'm sorry to see so many of our friends die of thirst. I think that only digging a well is the only way to save our friends from the drought.”
“But isn't our spring water not coming out. Then, how can there be water in this hole?” asked the Elephant.
"Eitssss...don't say that, friend," said the tortoise, starting to devise a ploy to trick the elephant. "Don't you see the ground I'm stepping on is getting wet right now.
The elephant apparently did not realize that what the tortoise was doing was just pretending.
"Hey, turtle. Can we work together to get the water source?”
"Hey..hi..hi...what do you mean, elephant?"
"Hmmm I want to help you get the spring out... as long as I get some water too."
The tortoise pretended to think. He paced back and forth nodding his head. Then he shouted and agreed to the Elephant's proposal.
"Okay, Elephant," said the tortoise. "You see, my friend, the spring is under this rock that I stepped on. I just need a little water for this rock to sink. Well, usually you keep a reserve of water in your mouth. Can you take out the water to drown the stone? Well... if the stone is released then the spring will open and we can use the water."
In fact, the Elephant began to doubt the tortoise's plan. He objected when he had to remove the water supply from his mouth. Because the water reserve will be given to his children.
“But is it true that there is a water source in there? What if there's nothing, tortoise?" asked the elephant.
“Wow… why are you so doubtful? Well...don't cooperate with me. Let this water source be mine alone..."
The elephant was getting confused. If he agrees to the tortoise's plan, the water reserves for his cubs will be lost. If it turns out that there is no water source, the children will be thirsty because they do not get drinking water. However, if he rejects the turtle's plan then he will suffer more because the turtle will not give his water ration. And he had to walk a long way to get drinking water.
"Yes dech ... I agree with your plan, turtle," said the elephant. Then he squirted his spare drinking water into the hole.
Serrrrrrrrrrrtttttttt...serrrrrrrrttttttttttttt...serrrrrtttttt...
The tortoise was happy, because his plan worked. The elephant sprayed quite a lot of water. When the water had reached the surface of the rock, suddenly the turtle quickly swam towards the rock surface. Then, with one leap he had managed to get out of the hole. Then, without noticing the elephant he ran as fast as he could to escape.
The elephant was surprised. He immediately stopped spraying water. Apparently he realized that the tortoise had deceived him. The tortoise had lied to him. The tortoise had lied to him.
"Hey, where are you going to run to the cheater!!!" shouted the elephant while chasing the tortoise who had disappeared in the pile of rocks. He kept trying to find here and there, but the tortoise had disappeared.
The elephant finally went home, holding back disappointment. He realized he had been tricked by the tortoise. He should not waste drinking water when the dry season comes. He shouldn't be so easily fooled by wasting drinking water that is of no use. In the dry season, a drop of water is worth more than a lump of gold.
